Under 15’s Kent Cup 1st Round
Cobham Colts 1 v Faversham Strike Force 0
An even cup tie in which both sides showed good football skills, with Cobham getting the better of the midfield battle, but unable to make their determination count. In fact, Faversham came closest to scoring in the first half, but at the break, neither team had managed to find the net. In the second half, Cobham gradually got on top, with their defence frustrating Faversham’s attack, their midfield effort finally found the pass that broke the deadlock, for Matt Thomas to score a well taken goal.
U10s Blue - Report from Matthew
Northfleet Blue VS Cobham Sunday 16th October 2011
At 10:00 Northfleet kicked off. Every player had a high confidence level. In the first few minutes Northfleet went chasing after the ball being stopped each time by the Cobham players.
Still inside the 1st minute the ball was kicked out of play by the Cobham number 3 to allow Cobham’s number 17 to be substituted after falling to the ground with a back injury picked up during training.
Cobham got straight back on the ball at the restart allowing their number 18 a great shot on goal hitting the post. So close!
Cobham finally got the break they needed through number 15 who tucked the ball through the keeper’s legs scoring a great goal.
Northfleet No.7 then ran down the wing testing the defenders to the limit quite a few times.
After number 19 put the ball out for a corner, one of Northfleet’s players whipped the ball into the Cobham box and number 18 missed a header and the ball bounced onto his arm. PENALTY!
All the Cobham players standing in line holding their breath waiting for Northfleet to take their penalty.
SHOT SAVED. Well done keeper.
No 2 then made an ambitious clearance that finished up in the crowd.
HALF TIME SCORE Cobham Colts 1 – Northfleet Blue 0
At 10.30 Cobham begin the 2nd half hoping to extend their lead.
Northfleet start the half full of energy making Cobham work hard to keep possession. No 3 was making them all important challenges making sure the goalie had hardly anything to do.
Cobham’s number 18 received a great pass from his number 10 and attacked Northfleet’s defence from the half way line and takes a shot at goal beating the keeper easily to score Cobham’s second goal.
Soon after this Northfleet attacked down the wing numerous times putting great crosses in but no one could get on the end of any of them.
Cobham on the attack again as their number 2 passes to number 3 who begins an attack on the left wing and runs the length of the pitch taking a shot on goal which only just misses its target.
After that Northfleet took an ambitious shot that the goalie had to dive full stretch to palm away what a good counter attack.
With practically the final attack of the game, Cobham’s number 15 is on the attack again after receiving the ball from his number 17 ending with a shot on goal that beats the keeper scoring his second and Cobham’s third goal of the match.
Northfleet could not get back into the match and could not wait for the final whistle which came soon after.
FINAL SCORE : COBHAM COLTS 3 – NORTHFLEET BLUE 0
MAN OF THE MATCH : Cobham Number 18
